Welcome to the European Counselling Community. These pages will serve as an introduction and overview of EAC to colleagues and friends who wish to join us in the common effort to establish counselling as a European profession. Since 1991 we have been slowly building a community and network of counsellors, counselling organizations and National Associations for counselling throughout Europe. Nine countries have strong representation and we are currently engaged in dialogue with individuals, organizations and nations to support mutual goals.
Counsellors are now being called upon to respond to a changing world. Our challenges are global rather than regional and there are immense benefits in coming together through our European Association so that we can both learn from and support one another. EAC promotes professional identity and networking through opportunities to dialogue with counsellors in different parts of the world.
If we, as counsellors, are to respond to the growing needs of people facing new educational, socio-political, cultural and economic realities as well as natural disasters we need to broaden our experience in moving toward new horizons and meeting with colleagues from other countries and learning about the challenges they are facing.
In pursuit of the goal of facilitating these experiences EAC is working toward reshaping itself to be fit for the purpose of holding forums, European conferences, networking, producing a directory of European Counsellors, organizations and National Associations as well as updating our Standards and broadening our membership.
Our website is in development. We welcome articles, news and information from our colleagues and supporters. Please join us and work with us to develop this vital and valuable profession throughout the European and Worldwide community.
